Wednesday, December 3 to Friday, December 5 - National Lieutenant Governors Executive Committe in New Mexico

Lt. Governors of Kentucky, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Arkansas and Mississippi. Lt. Governor Lawton traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico to lead the Executive Committee Meeting of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association, hosted by New Mexico Lt. Governor Diane Denish. 

 

While in New Mexico, Lt. Governor Lawton led the Committee through NLGA business and showcased experts on developing skills of the American workforce for a 21st century global economy and the aerospace industry. Presentations sharing New Mexico’s success stories in building creative industries and a children’s cabinet were also part of the agenda.

Lt. Governor Lawton was elected Chair of the NLGA in July 2008.   As NLGA Chair, Lt. Governor Lawton’s focus has been on bringing jobs and economic development to the United States and building a stronger network of relationships to gird the growing export economy.

 

Author of Tough Times or Tough Choices and President of the National Center on Education and the Economy, Mark TuckerAuthor of Tough Times or Tough Choices and President of the National Center on Education and the Economy, Mark Tucker, is pictured here presenting on the “Skills of the American Workforce in a Globalized Economy.”  Mr. Tucker stressed the urgency of states moving to transform anachronistic schools to better position students to perform well in a global economy.  He presented the Center’s plan, which is soon to be adapted and set in motion in six states.
