Thanksgiving is a good time to pause and reflect on all of God's blessings over the past year. I know that I have a lot to be thankful for!
For example, this is the year I beat cancer! Cancer has been my unwelcome companion for every step of my political career - I had emergency surgery to remove the grapefruit-sized tumor from my colon two weeks before my Primary Election. I wish my family would never have had to go through some of the scares we've faced over the years, but now it's finally over.
I love my family and am so thankful for the blessing they are in my life. This summer my girls, Ella and Violet, had the opportunity to see Mom at work. They had a first-hand view as we toured Wisconsin small towns promoting northern industries. My husband, State Representative Joel Kleefisch, has done great work this year in the Assembly. I'm proud of him, and happy he was recently recognized for his leadership in making Wisconsin an adoption-friendly state.
The recent news from abroad reminds me of yet another thing to be thankful for: our freedoms, and for the brave men and women who wear our nation's uniform. As you gather around the Thanksgiving table, please pray for the troops away from their families eating turkey MREs in the far-flung corners of the globe.
So from the Kleefisch family to yours, best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving surrounded by all of God's blessings!
