2014 Governor's Business Plan Contest
Entrepreneurship in Wisconsin is an important part of new job creation and our economy. Whether you have an idea in advanced manufacturing, business services, information technology or life sciences, you can count on Wisconsin as a place known for predictability and stability. It is no coincidence that there has been an upsurge of entrepreneurism in Wisconsin. Wisconsin, uniquely situated in the middle of what we like to call the "IQ Corridor" between the Twin Cities and Chicago, is host to a culture custom-made for entrepreneurship. With a motivated workforce, increasing access to investment capital, top-tier research institutions, and a pro-business environment, Wisconsin is an incubator ready to hatch the next breakthrough ideas.
Governor's Business Plan contestants get access to statewide investment and mentoring networks and finalists share a total of $100,000 in cash and prizes. Register today for the 2014 Governors Business Plan Contest!
Platteville Tax Reform Roundtable
Yesterday, Revenue Secretary Rick Chandler and I held a Tax Reform Roundtable at UW-Platteville. The Walker-Kleefisch Administration is committed to lowering the tax burden in Wisconsin and we need to know what the future of tax reform looks like for the hardworking taxpayers of our state. Stay tuned for a new tool that will have more information so all Wisconsinites can participate in the discussion. In the meantime, check out this piece from the Dubuque Telegraph Tribune.
Impressive: Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
As a colon cancer survivor, I know and understand that every day is a blessing. And when I get to talk to a fellow chemo veteran, it's always nice to trade stories and encouragement! On Wednesday, I visited Kathryn and her mother Tracy at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Kathryn has battled Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is scheduled to be going home soon! She's an artist, archery enthusiast, and 13 year-old inspiration. I was impressed by Children's Hospital's efforts to keep Kathryn's schoolwork current while they helped her fight cancer. If you pray, please remember the kids at Children's tonight.
