Access to Records in the Lt. Governor’s Office The Lt. Governor’s Office has 3 permanent staff who assist the Lt. Governor in carrying out the responsibilities specified under the Constitution and laws of the State of Wisconsin. The Lt. Governor’s staff includes a Chief of Staff, a Policy Director, and an Operations Manager/Scheduler. Attached is a current list of the Lt. Governor and her staff. Both the Lt. Governor and the Lt. Governor’s Chief of Staff occupy a “state public office” as that term is defined at Wis. Stat. § 19.32(4). Pursuant to Wis. Stat. ch. 19, the Lt. Governor is the legal custodian of the office’s records. However, to facilitate public access to the records, this authority has been delegated to the Chief of Staff and his designees. Questions concerning application or interpretation of the open records law or requests for access to a record in this office should be directed to: Office of the Lt. GovernorThe Lt. Governor’s Office is located at 19 East, State Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin, 53702, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If a person wishes to receive a copy of a record, the record will be photocopied by the Lt. Governor’s Office at a cost of 25 cents per copy. If time and utilization of the photocopy machine permits, and at the discretion of the legal custodian, the requestor may photocopy the record utilizing the photocopy machine at the Lt. Governor’s Office at the same cost. If the record is a tape or other recording that is to be duplicated, the fee will be the cost to the Lt. Governor’s Office for duplication. The Lt. Governor’s Office may charge a fee for locating a record if the actual, necessary and direct cost of location is $50 or more. Mailing and shipping costs may also be charged. Fees in excess of $5.00 may be required to be prepaid. The Lt. Governor’s Office may provide copies of a record without charge or at a reduced charge where the legal custodian determines that waiver or reduction of the fee is in the public interest. Requests will be filled as soon as practicable and consistent with causing the minimum interference possible with the normal working operations of the Lt. Governor’s Office.
